Competitor Comparison · DSR vs DÜPAS

A Digital Product Passport —
not just another QR code.

Compare DSR side by side with the competitor you choose. Every rival point below is quoted from the competitor’s own published terms — this is a due-diligence asset, not a sales pitch.

The key differenceDÜPAS offers UNTP / W3C-VC signing and an accredited-validator network — but inside a fee-layered model: layered per-passport fees, an annual fee to keep passports published, and only three revisions per passport. We give you the same UNTP verification as an open multi-signature layer, unlimited immutable versions and a funded Continuity Guarantee — on your own sovereign domain.
Ownership & provenanceDSR secures ownership through physical truth and an unbroken chain of custody — a living digital twin bound to the object itself and verified at chip level. No blockchain, token or wallet required.
Türkiye sovereignty & data residencyDeployable resident in Türkiye (KVKK). Zero-egress to verify a scan: trust data stays in-perimeter and is never sent to any third party.
The distinctionResidency ≠ zero-egress: see the difference in one tap

A rival can match “residency at rest” on a foreign-backed cloud. The real moat is zero-egress by design, your-own-domain ownership and a funded continuity guarantee.

LayerDÜPASDSR
Residency (at rest)Matchable — a rival can offer residency at restTürkiye-resident deployment (KVKK-aligned)
Zero-egress by designEach scan/publish still pushes data back to central servers, the EU Registry or external enginesVerifies in-resolver — no third-party egress to verify a scan
Your-own-domain ownershipThe passport lives on their domainPublished on your own domain (white-label)
ContinuityPay-to-stay — passports go dark if you stop payingFunded Continuity Guarantee + self-hostable
Durability risk — EU Digital Product Passport availability
A passport you must keep paying to keep alive is in tension with the ESPR’s availability duty.

DÜPAS’s own pricing requires an annual platform fee “to keep the passport published” and caps edits at three revisions per passport.2 The ESPR expects a Digital Product Passport to remain available for the product’s lifetime, with a back-up copy held so the record survives even if the operator fails (Regulation (EU) 2024/1781).3 A pay-to-stay-published model that can take passports dark, and a three-edit ceiling on a living supply-chain record, both cut against that. Our answer is the opposite: a funded Continuity Guarantee that keeps passports live for defined term-years on your own domain, and unlimited immutable versioning.

The evidence — from DÜPAS’s own published terms
 DSR ProtocolDÜPAS (dupastr.com)
What it actually is✓A living, item-level digital-twin + open conformity engine you own.A DPP publishing SaaS: signed passport documents (UNTP / W3C VC) plus an accredited-validator network.1
Versioning✓Unlimited, immutable, publicly verifiable version hash-chain.A “3 Revision Right” — three edits per passport.2
Staying published✓Funded Continuity Guarantee — passports stay live for defined term-years, on your own domain. An annual Platform Usage Fee is required “to keep the passport published”.2
Independent conformity sign-off✓Open multi-signature: plug in any accredited validator; the result is a UNTP DigitalConformityCredential verifiable offline, with no per-passport approval toll.Validators operate inside their own accredited-validator network, with validator/approval fees bundled into the published packages — so independent sign-off runs through their ecosystem and its fee structure rather than an open standard.1,2
Fee model✓Transparent and value-based; GS1 Digital Link and unlimited versioning included.Stacked per-passport fees (application, pre-registration/registration, verification, operator service, digital hosting, platform) with QR labels & integrations extra.2
Physical-item authenticity✓Optional chip-level NTAG 424 DNA (AES-CMAC / SUN) catches clones & transplants; plus 213/215 taps and GS1 Data Matrix.Document-signature authenticity only — a copied QR still resolves to a genuine-looking passport.
Data residency & egress✓Deployable resident in Türkiye (KVKK); authentication runs in-resolver with no third-party egress to verify a scan; flat marginal cost at the edge.Verification is performed through their platform and passports are published on their dupastr.com domain (not your own), under a per-passport, pay-to-stay model; Türkiye-resident data residency is not advertised. Residency at rest — wherever the database sits — is not the same as zero-egress verification by design, your-own-domain ownership, or a funded continuity guarantee.1
Offline verification✓A passport verifies from the credential alone — no database, no network (customs / field).Verification is performed through their platform.1
Life-cycle assessment / carbon✓Your certified LCA / EPD is captured, cryptographically signed and independently validator-attested, and bound to the passport — we are the tamper-evident system of record, not an in-house calculator.A carbon-footprint calculation is offered.1
Whose domain the passport lives on✓White-label on your own domain.Passports live on the dupastr.com panel domain.1
Defensible IP✓Patent-pending resolver architecture; no blockchain, token or wallet.None stated.

Due diligence

Why their marketed “strengths” are structural liabilities

Accredited validator network
How they frame it“Notified bodies and labs give you trusted compliance.”
The hidden liabilityTheir own published packages bundle application, verification and registration fees into one orchestration ecosystem — so the cost of sign-off, and the choice of validator, sit with their platform rather than an open standard.
The DSR advantageAn open, cryptographically secured multi-signature standard — plug in your own choice of independent validator, with no vendor tax and no captive partner network.
The “3-revision” structured template
How they frame it“Structured compliance templates with strict data fields.”
The hidden liabilityCapping a passport at three edits misreads modern manufacturing — suppliers shift, care instructions update and definitions evolve — forcing manual recreation or extra fees just to keep the record accurate.
The DSR advantageAdditive, hash-chained, unlimited revisions — every update is permanently tracked, Ed25519-signed and immutable, so a living supply chain carries no penalty.
Pay-to-stay-published annual fee
How they frame it“An annual platform subscription keeps your compliance portal active.”
The hidden liabilityBecause an annual fee is required to keep passports published, a paused payment, a disputed invoice or an outgrown tier puts live regulatory QR codes at risk of being taken offline — a material commercial risk for an exporter.
The DSR advantageA funded Continuity Guarantee and a single, portable, self-hostable codebase for true sovereign deployment (including Türkiye-resident setups) — data permanence is never held by a billing department.
Turkish-language data-collection portal
How they frame it“Easy Turkish-language portals that collect your data.”
The hidden liability“Collecting data” means manufacturers and tier suppliers manually re-typing values into a rigid third-party web form — heavy administrative overhead and high human error.
The DSR advantageStreamlined, API-ready ingestion that respects your existing enterprise systems — no tedious manual re-entry.
“They help you print a compliant QR code. We help you prove your product is genuine, compliant and traceable for its whole life — GS1 Digital Link included as standard.”
